I keep thinking about my Lady Knight and Prince, earlier today I fantasized about them in a contemporary setting, but what’s great are all the things I did wrong in this drawing. Not anatomically, but for their ages and the narrative.
I decided the LK is the younger of the two. In narrative she’s 25 to the Prince’s 28, but she’s also the taller of the two when she’s eventually saves him, she’s 6’2” to his 5’10” (This was in part inspired by this post about Gwendoline Christie from Game of Thrones) But I really like changing my couples and their dynamic for heights, I did it once before on a throw away couple.
Oh, so the issues, if they’re in high school, she’ be 15 and him 18, I think she’d still be shorter or they’d be equal heights, they’re almost equal here. I know she’d be quarterback and he’d be in the literary club. They probably meet when she saves him from being bullied, she probably gets a black eye for her efforts but he’s immediately enamored. It takes her a bit longer to come around.
He makes them friendship/couple’s bracelets, to keep them symbolically connected when he goes off to college after graduation and she’s still in school.
Oh my damn, I love their contemporary story as much as I love their medieval story. I mean, the dynamics are similar, the Prince can and will stand up for himself, but he’s not muscular so does his best to avoid physical fights so I can’t fight the jocks off who decide to pick on him. He’s still bookish, just not a budding mage here, maybe a journalist.
I’m not entirely sure what she’d wear, I guess her fashion sense would be a bit more butch, but I also like the idea of her wearing a gown sometimes. Ahhhhh, I’m imagining him falling in love all over seeing her in such femme clothes on special occasions.
I am in love with these two and I’m so mad that I don’t have the time to really play with them. I’d think I’d kinda love to tell their regular story at the few hundred pages it’ll take, then as like a short addition, like a 25-50 page side story, tell their contemporary story too. It’d be a similar story, but the different setting would be fun to share.
All right, keep your drawing hand strong, I’ll have some other drawings soon.
